Build a Battle Robot

You are reading this because you want to learn how to build a battle robot. Chances are you’ve seen them on television or in a local shopping mall, or maybe your kids were talking about them. Battle Robots are generally human controlled robots that take out their differences in a ring, similar to that of a boxing or wrestling match. Your fair warning of course is that these robots take a lot of time, effort and of course money to actually create and bring to life. So first things first; what parts and equipment are actually involved in a battle robot.

The good news is that there are tons of parts and pieces you can customize or will have-to customize in order to get your battle robot off the group. Coincidentally of course; the bad is that there will be a lot to customize in order to get your battle robot fighting in the ring for the very first time. You will first need a good quality battery capable of taking the intense punishment. You’re going to also need a customized chip and board to send commands to your robot, not a lot of use your robot will be if he cannot receive and perform commands such as moving or attacking. Did I mention this would be expensive? One of the most important internal pieces of course are your motors and speed controls. These motors need to be heavily armored down in order to provide optimal use even under the harshest attacks. The most under-valued piece of your robot will be there wheels or traction. You’ve seen the battle robots stall out or get stuck, and in most cases it’s due to low quality wheels or treads for your robot.

We’ve gone over some of the integral pieces to build your battle robot, but what else is important in putting together the pieces to a successful robot colossus? Your patience; If you rush the building process, cut corners, or even try to skip steps you will be the one losing out in the end. The most successful battle robots of all time were built over a few years, with larger teams working on the robots. If you wish to build a battle robot for your home use, and not for fighting or anything destructive; then you can consider making tweaks and cutting down where you can. The most important factor to consider when you build your battle robot is the final product, you want to be proud and show off your hard earned toy. Through the right techniques and building practices, you could most certainly have the next biggest battle robot on your hands, go have fun and build a battle robot.

Prophetic and poetic: in praise of heavy metal

Why the Church Times is right to laud Iron Maiden et al Here's a sentence you might not expect to read in the Church Times, courtesy of the Rev Rachel Mann: "Metal has no fear of human darkness.
